Steve Economou Principal

Steve is a Principal in Grassi’s Forensic, Litigation and Valuation Practice. He has more than 35 years of diverse corporate finance experience including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, management buyouts, capital markets, and business valuations. Steve has completed hundreds of transactions and advisory assignments, including advising on more than $2 billion of transactions and completing more than 100 board and strategic advisory engagements. He has also rendered more than 200 valuation opinions.

Steve was previously a managing director in the mergers and acquisitions advisory practice of a top 10 public accounting firm, a money center bank, and a leading Philadelphia boutique investment banking and valuation advisory firm. He has advised on sales, divestitures, acquisitions, restructurings, and financings in a wide range of industries.

Steve has spoken frequently to various groups on such topics as capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, valuations of technology companies, industry consolidation, and raising private capital. Steve has published and spoken on the value of intellectual property and technology companies and has also testified as an expert witness. He has spoken at the Advanced Business Valuation Conference and the Practicing Law Institute, and has been published in the Business Valuation Review.

Steve is the President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Exit Planning Exchange and a member of the Association for Corporate Growth, a member of the Manufacturing Investment Committee of Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania, and a member  the Advisory Board of the Pitt Masters of Quantitative Economics program. He is a past member of the Board of the Pitt Alumni Association and participant in the Appraisal Issues Task Force.

Steve earned an MBA degree with a concentration in Finance from the University of Cincinnati and a BA degree in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh. He holds FINRA Licenses Series 7, 63, 79, and 99.
