Bryan Fryer is a Consulting Principal in Grassi’s Nonprofit Practice. In this role, he is committed to advising nonprofit organizations, associations, and foundations on improving financial health, mitigating risk, and achieving long-term sustainability.

Bryan specializes in providing outsourced CFO and Controller services that are customized to each client’s specific level of need. These services include establishing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, overseeing external or internal financial staff, and developing strategic business plans.

With over 18 years of public accounting and advisory experience, Bryan has directed all facets of the accounting function, including payroll, investments and marketable securities, accounts receivable and collections, disbursements, taxes, and revenue recognition and reporting. His areas of expertise also include risk management, vendor management, financial reporting, nonprofit attestation, internal controls and cash flow forecasting.

Prior to joining Grassi, Bryan held leadership roles in both public and private accounting. Most recently, he was a partner at a regional public accounting firm, where he provided outsourced CFO and Controller services to both nonprofit and commercial clients.

Previously, he served as Controller for two ultra-high net worth multi-family offices. In these roles, he oversaw all accounting functions, administered banking and investment relationships, implemented internal controls, directed technology upgrades, and managed budgeting, tax compliance and cash flow.

Bryan is also committed to serving his community as a New Member Ambassador with the Business Council of Westchester. He is a recipient of Westchester County’s 40-under-40 award from the Business Council of Westchester and a frequent speaker on financial reporting skills for nonprofits at Nonprofit Westchester. Bryan is also on the Board of Directors and serves as the Chair of both the finance and audit committees of New Settlement, a nonprofit settlement house serving the Mount Eden section of the Bronx.

Bryan is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York, and a member of the New York State Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. He received his Master of Science in Business Administration (Accounting) degree from the Catholic University of America.
