James McIntosh, CPA, MST Partner

James McIntosh is an Audit Partner at Grassi and a key member of the firm’s Manufacturing & Distribution practice. He possesses more than 13 years of accounting experience, specializing in audits, reviews and consulting for public and private companies. He has particular expertise in serving the unique needs of businesses operating in the Food & Beverage sector.

James’s clients range from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies in the domestic and international markets. He is highly skilled in audits for SEC-registered companies and family-owned businesses.

Prior to joining Grassi, James gained experience at both national and regional accounting firms, where he planned and executed audit plans, prepared financial statements with the appropriate disclosures, and prepared corporate tax returns in addition to individual tax returns for the partners or shareholders. James also performed reviews, compilations and quarterly meetings for bookkeeping review. Previously, James served as an Assistant Controller for a software company, where his responsibilities included managing complex revenue arrangements from both a business and accounting perspective.

James sits on the Accountants and Bankers NextGen Committee for Big Brothers Big Sisters and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA). At Grassi, he is a dedicated mentor to junior and semi-senior CPAs and leads many of the firm’s M&D training sessions.

James earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from C.W. Post and a Master of Business Administration in Taxation from SUNY Old Westbury, where he was a member of the accounting society.
